Lola Staar Skating Rink Opening Party Video

This Brookvid video of Lola Staar's Skating Rink Opening Party was found on the always informative blog of blogs: The Great Gowanus Lounge!

The Gowanus Lounge also gives a good GL analysis on what the skating rink at the Child's building does for Coney Island.

The Gowanus Lounge writes:

We have to say that the opening of Lola Staar's roller rink in the historic Childs Building in Coney Island on Saturday night was an event so nice we feel compelled to blog it twice. (Well, given that we posted everything on Easter Sunday, we thought we'd air it all out again on a Monday morning.) The inaugural staking event drew a big crowd to Childs and some celeb participants like Ashanti and Marissa Tomei (who turns out to be quite the roller skater). The enterprise is sponsored by Dreaming Tommy Hilfiger (a fragrance) and Glamour Magazine. (The campaign behind the fragrance is that it "inspires real women to go after their dreams.") In any case, you can check out our vid here and our big slideshow here.

Lola Staar New Boutique and Roller Skating Rink For '08

Lola Staar was thrilled to announce her new second boutique that will be opening up inside the Stillwell Subway terminal. Also in the announcement are plans for a roller skating rink for Coney Island:

The announcement read:

Lola Staar is thrilled to announce that we will be opening a new boutique in Coney Island this spring! Our second Coney Island shop will be located inside the sparkling new, fabulously renovated Stillwell Avenue Subway station!

Another, even more exciting dream is in the works for 2008. A preliminary manifestation of Lola's dream to build a Roller Rink in Coney Island may take place this summer! We will keep you updated as Lola's exciting dream unfolds!

Where the skating rink will be located still has to be announced. Some are already speculating whether the city is in on the rink project with Staar or if Dianna Carlin, owner and founder of Lola Staar is in fact working with Joe Sitt and Thor Equities. Much has still to be mentioned in the next coming weeks or perhaps months.

You can follow the discussion on the CIUSA board here.

The Real Coney Island Savior Material Girl Gets The Pink Boot

A few emails have come our way stating that Lola Staar (Dianna Carlin) of the fabulous pink boutique, Dreamland Roller Skating Rink, and Coney's genuine diva is not getting a new lease for the 2009 season. While others operators of the boardwalk businesses are signing new leases (some with much higher rents) and coming back for 2009, buzz has it that Lola Staar's continuous playing with the press has probably backfired on her.

At this point, word in emails has it that, Ruby's is still in negotiations while Steve's Grill will be open for next year. Cha-Cha's fate is still pending.
