One Year of Kinetic Carnival

This little blog dedicated to Coney Island turned one year yesterday on July 4th, 2007. Many thanks to all those who gave such a tremendous amount of gracious acknowledgement and positive feedback. And a very special thanks goes to The Gowanus Lounge for its wonderful support from the start and throughout the year.

Kinetic Carnival will continue its dedication to this most fabled place of merriment and oddities and hope that the spirit of Coney continues to thrive.

No matter what this way comes - let's make sure we KEEP IT CONEY!

I am a lifelong Brooklynite whose wife was born in Coney Island. I disagree with just about everything you write. I will try my best (by attending community meetings and corresponding with Government officials)to ensure that Coney does not get stuck in its past and moves forward into the future. The last 30 years of Coney has seen a significant demise which is unacceptable to Brooklyn. Coney was a place that had over 230 restaurants and over 20 hotels at one time. The last I read Coney has about a 50% unemployment rate among African American residents. Thats an horrific and unacceptable rate. Coney should be, and will be, developed to benefit Brooklyn and it residents. It will be HUGE AGAIN. Its coming! GO CONEY! GO BROOKLYN!

It seems you do not ready anything I write here. I never said I felt that Coney should stay in the past twenty years. I've always felt today's Coney Island needs change in a big way. I'm not for the empty lots and furniture stores. I want to make sure that the change keeps amusements in Coney and not on a smaller scale.

I think you do a fantastic job bringing attention to the stories in Coney Island overlooked by mainstream media. Happy B-day Kinetic Carnival!

I think you do a fantastic job covering all the Coney Island stories and judging from the Thor's last town hall meeting, it sounds like Joe Sitt is reading your blog too. Happy Birthday Kinetic Carnival!
