Coney Island Surf & Turf Grill Revs Up For Summer Season

To inform what some may feel looks like the Coney Island Surf & Turf Grill on Surf Avenue and Stillwell is closed half the time - Ruby's Host puts out the word on the Coney Island USA message board:

People have been asking, since they see the gates down frequently, if they are closing. Surf & Turf Grill is open and getting ready for another summer of fun. Surf & Turf Grill is open year round but, winter is limited hours and menu. They are starting their weekend parties this weekend. Friday night is Limo Party Night with DJ playing Top 40's. Saturday Doors open at 10 pm for the Surf & Turf Club Party - free round of shots at midnight - Hip Hop & Rap. They are working on their summer band schedule.

Coney Openings: Surf & Turf Grill on Surf

The new Surf & Turf Grill restaurant across Nathan's and next door to the Shore Theater on Surf Avenue is almost ready and slated to open to the public sometime after next week.

Since gutting out and renovations began this past January, they recently had a few delays and had hoped to open by Memorial Day weekend but couldn't get some of the contractors to finish some of the work in time. They are now busy with a few last finishing touches as well as waiting for the official signage to arrive and be installed.

The Surf & Turf Grill will include a raw bar as well as a Margarita Bar.

Coney Events: Gay Pride Comes Ashore at Coney's Surf & Turf

This month the CIDC put out a year-round calendar of events that was displayed at the CIDC meeting Tuesday, November 8th at Our Lady of Solace Church. The calendar which laid out all Coney events with additions of other events they are working to get started throughout the calendar year, included a gay pride event for the summer.

Now, the Coney Island Surf & Turf Grill (and bar) is offering different nights to keep business thriving year round. Included in their events are Latin Nigths happening every Friday with live DJ, they are serving up Pride Night. An evening for gay and lesbians called Whir!.

It's pride night at Whirl! Starting this Saturday and continuing every Wednesdays starting December 5th.

Coney Openings: Be A Star By The Shore At New Karaoke Lounge

Late last night sign installers were hooking up a new canopy sign for a new lounge opening up soon at the new building at 1205 Surf Avenue directly across from the Coney Island Museum and Sideshow. What will seem to be a bar and lounge Stars By The Shore will be showcasing Karaoke. The sign sat on the floor before being installed above the store's entrance. Also posted, on the closed gate, is a help wanted sign which reads:

Hopefully this is the beginning of many new places springing up at Coney Island. The Coney Island Surf & Turf Restaurant has been bustling with business for the most part since it opened. And it comes highly recommended by reviews in the New York Magazine.

Let's hope some more entertainment venues start up as well.
