Sally Kaplan's hit comic book “Cyclone” is set in the glamorous, seedy Coney Island of the 1920's, where Cyclone, a sultry gypsy heartbreaker, and her freakish twin sister, the Pig-Faced Lady, always save the day. But in the real world, there are no superheroes, and Sally must find a way to become the hero of her own story. During the show, the comic book sketches that Sally draws are projected on a scrim. Those sketches are going to be drawn by actual female comic book artist Adriana Melo, who's drawn Fantastic Four, Witchblade, Ms. Marvel, Birds of Prey, Stars Wars, etc., for Marvel, DC, Top Cow.
Okay what about a fun Coney musical, not only about Coney Island but also performed at Coney Island.
I can see it now...A dreamy girl from afar lands in Coney Island and falls in love with its vintage charm and eclectic characters and decides to stay and pursue her long-lived dream of opening a fabulous roller skating rink. But she soon learns that Coney's underbelly is stuffed with varmints out to destroy her. She must gain the courage to find herself and become the fair maiden of Dreamland...."Dreamland: The Musical" (based on a real dream). A zany musical adventure set on wheels...a cross between "Hairspray" and a PG-rated "Warriors" filled with wall to wall disco, rock, and a taste of the oldies but goodies. It will have you feeling pink!
