Word (according to the New York Post) and buzz from last night's MAS "Imagine Coney" public meeting has it that the city is now in negotiations to buy up the Astroland property and some of Thor's other parcels for a walloping $250 million.

The New York Post writes:

The Bloomberg administration is in serious negotiations to buy 10.5 acres of real estate in Coney Island that once appeared unobtainable - a move that would save both Astroland Park and the mayor's plans to revive the slumping seaside amusement district.
