The Boston band Beat Circus will be performing at the Knitting Factory this Saturday to promote their recently released CD, 'Dreamland.' Yes, the Dreamland in question is that Dreamland, the amusement park which graced Coney Island from 1904 until it's unfortunate demise be fire in 1911.
'Dreamland' (the CD) is the first installment in composer Brian Carpenter's Weird American Gothic Trilogy. Beat Circus's website describes the work as a "150-page score for 12 musicians and contains macabre narratives loosely based on historical figures from the surreal, turn-of-the-century Coney Island theme park of the same name."
