Coney Boardwalk Under Serious Patchwork Repair

Posted on the Coney Island USA message board by Mr Jonsey PabloJonsey, we see planks of the boardwalk pulled away awaiting new ones. No word yet if the boardwalk will be getting plastic planks put in or not. Though it probably doesn't make sense to stick them in alongside the wooden ones.

Yes, of course they’re going with rainforest wood. The Parks Department is still addicted to tropical rainforest hadwoods. I’ve shown them how to use the recycled plastic (which looks amazing on Steeplechase Pier) next to the wood, but this has fallen on deaf ears.

I’ve also suggested black locust, a domestic species that’s considered an invasive pest tree here in NY, the wood of which will outlast tropical hardwoods in the outdoors. Also a no-go for Parks.

Well, there goes another 100 acres of rainforest!
