Municipal Arts Society To Present Ideas For Coney Island

As a reminder:

The Municipal Art Society, a private, non-profit membership organization that fights for intelligent urban planning, design, and preservation, will hold a public meeting to present ideas the public has offered for Coney Island.

The presentation -- on Wednesday, January 14, at 6:30 p.m. in Coney Island at Our Lady of Solace Church, 1717 Mermaid Ave., Brooklyn -- will also present economic analysis and design work for redevelopment of the amusement district.

The call for ideas is part of a larger effort to re-imagine Coney Island that included a charrette (an intense design workshop) featuring a team of world-class architects, amusement designers and economists. In mid-November, the charette team released a new concept for Coney Island that featured near-term and long-term programming elements with Coney Island to become the main stage for New York City.
